Steam, Mist and Smoke
As a boy, I was intrigued by swirling mist, rather than sharp sunlit landscapes. Mist is phantom like clinging to trees, houses and water.
Steam, a close relative of mist, has more substance, more solidity, and evokes power! In “ Holiday”, a Steam Locomotive makes its languid departure from Harman,s Cross Station, redolent of more gentle and exciting childhood scenes of yesteryear.
